Medicare Rebates for Counselling Services

Many clients are eligible to receive Medicare rebates for counselling sessions through a Mental Health Care Plan.

A Mental Health Care Plan is a referral provided by your GP that allows eligible clients to access Medicare rebates for mental health treatment.

  1. Book an appointment with your GP.
  2. Discuss your mental health concerns.
  3. Ask whether you're eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan.
  4. Request a referral to an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.

Yes.

Alara is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, meaning Medicare rebates may be available for eligible clients with a valid referral.

The number of rebated sessions available is determined by current Medicare guidelines and your individual circumstances.

You're still welcome to access counselling services privately.

You may also be eligible for rebate through your private health insurance.

Many clients choose to attend without mental health care plans.

If you're unsure whether you're eligible or how to obtain a referral, please get in touch and we'll happily point you in the right direction.
